EL SID Pumps...

Back side of bronze pump head.

This head is used with all Ivan Labs' pumps.
Shown is 1/2" female NPT adapters and 1/2" pipe.
Also shown are the heads of four Philips screws that fasten the 2W2 driver onto the head.

Wetted materials are:
· Food Grade Stainless Steel
· Cast Bronze
· Teflon
· Hi-Temp ROYTON Plastic
· Ceramic Ferrite Magnet

Front side of bronze pump head.

Four common screw heads are shown, holding the stainless steel fluid retaining plate in place. Also shown are four screws coming from the back of the pump head. When the 2W2 driver is in place a total of eight screws squeeze the fluid retaining plate in place. Working pressure for this pump head is specified as 175psi, when the driver is in place. Working temperature for the head and driver combination is 250°F, except model SID10B24, which should be installed at the return side of the floor zone.

Note: there is no shaft and (of course) no shaft-seal. The crown at the center of the retaining plate houses an eight pole ceramic magnet. Thus, the rotating magnetic field in the 2W2 driver is coupled to the impeller, which resides in the fluid.

2W2 Drivers Available:

SID3.5
A 3.5-Watt driver, intended for PV domestic hot water, without glycol. Typical: 80gal tank, 4X10 collector. Use SOLAREX model SA-5 or similar amorphous panel. Also, instant hot water circulation

SID5
A 5-Watt driver, intended for PV domestic hot water and 24 hour instant hot water circulation. Use 5-Watt crystal PV panel.

SID10
A 10-Watt driver used for domestic solar hot water and 24 hour instant hot water in large homes. Use a 10-Watt crystal PV panel and glycol in the lower 48 states, where freezing is not deep and hard. Use a 20-Watt PV panel in the North so that more electricity is available in the morning to clear the slush out of the feed and return lines.

SID10B12
A 10-Watt driver used with 12-volt battery systems. The speed of this driver will change with battery condition (voltage). Often used in radiant floor application, etc.

SID10B24
A 10-Watt driver used with 24-volt battery systems. This driver has a built in dc-dc converter, causing the pump to be "constant-speed" from 20 to 35 volts. An excellent driver for "off-grid" or "lost-grid" radiant floor zone circulation. Because it is "constant-speed" a zone will not change characteristics, as batteries discharge. The built-in 3rd generation converter exceeds 96% efficiency. By distributing conversion among the zone circulators, instead of one central converter, system reliability is increased; a single failure does not stop all zones. Simplicity of wiring is also improved, as no central converter need be wired. Just fuse each zone pump branch (at the battery) and wire the battery through the thermostat and then to the zone pump.

2W3 Driver

The SID20PV uses the larger 2W3 driver. The 2W3 driver is also a Static Impeller Driver™.

2W3 Drivers Available:

SID20PV
A 20-Watt driver used for domestic solar hot water and 24 hour instant hot water in large homes. Use a 20-30 Watt crystal PV panel and glycol in the lower 48 states, where freezing is not deep and hard. Use a 30+Watt PV panel in the North so that more electricity is available in the morning to clear the slush out of the feed and return lines.
